How does a bingo number caller work?

A bingo number caller draws numbers at random with no repeats, shows each one large, and keeps a board of everything called. This free caller also reads calls aloud, can call automatically every 10, 20, or 30 seconds, shows a presentation screen for a TV or video call, and checks printed cards by card number.

How to use the bingo caller

  1. Choose what to call

Pick 1–75 for classic American bingo (called with letters, like B-7), 1–90 for UK-style bingo, or 1–100. If you made cards with our bingo card maker, choose Host this game after downloading to call your own words or numbers.

  2. Pick the pattern

Choose what counts as a win for this round, such as any line, four corners, or blackout. A small diagram shows the pattern.

  3. Call and check

Press Call next or the space bar. When a player calls bingo, type their card number to check it, then announce the winner.

A bingo caller with voice

Turn on Read calls aloud (in Settings while you play) and each call is spoken as it appears on screen: the letter and number in a 1–75 game ("B. 7"), the number in a 1–90 or 1–100 game, the word in word bingo, and the picture's name in picture bingo. Nobody has to raise their voice over the room, and nobody mistakes a 15 for a 50.

The voice is the one built into your phone, tablet, or computer, so there's nothing to download. Pick a voice and a slow, normal, or fast speed; the voices on offer differ from device to device. With auto-call on, the caller waits for each call to be spoken before it makes the next one.

It says the call itself, not the traditional nicknames like "legs eleven" or "two little ducks". Those are in our bingo lingo guide if you'd like to add them in your own voice.

What the caller does

  • Random calls with no repeats. Numbers are shuffled using your browser's secure random generator.
  • Read-aloud. Calls are spoken with your device's built-in voice. Choose a voice and speed.
  • Auto-call. Calls every 10, 20, or 30 seconds, and waits for the voice to finish first.
  • Undo. Called one by mistake? Undo it.
  • Called board. Numbers light up on a board grouped by letter, or called words appear in order.
  • Rounds and patterns. Play several rounds with the same cards, each with a new pattern.
  • Card checker. For cards made with our maker, type one or several card numbers to see each card with called squares highlighted and a clear result.
  • Winner announcements. A big "BINGO!" banner with the winner's name, confetti, and an optional spoken announcement.
  • Winners list and certificates. Keep track of every round and download a printable winner certificate.
  • Saves on your device. Refresh the page and your game picks up where it left off.
  • Play online with friends. One join link or 6-character game code gives every guest their own card on their phone, with an optional card limit and waitlist.
  • Printable QR sign. Download a QR code with your game code to put on a table or show on a TV.
  • Auto-mark. Phone cards can mark called squares themselves and check bingo automatically.
  • Start and break controls. Start the game with a banner, and take timed breaks with a big countdown on screen.
  • Host link. A private link to reopen your game on another device.

Show calls on a TV or projector

Choose Open presentation screen. A second window opens with the current call in huge text, the last few calls, this round's pattern, and the called board. Drag that window to the TV or projector and press F for full screen. Keep calling from the first window: the presentation screen updates instantly, with no internet connection needed between the two windows.

Play bingo on Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams

Open the presentation screen, then share that window in your call. Your camera stays on, so players see you and the game together.

AppHow to share it, and sound
ZoomShare Screen and choose the presentation window. We haven't measured whether read-aloud comes through in a Zoom call, so don't rely on it.
Google MeetPresent, choose A tab, and pick the presentation screen. Meet doesn't carry read-aloud, so read each call into your microphone.
Microsoft TeamsShare and choose the window. We haven't measured whether read-aloud comes through in a Teams call, so don't rely on it.

Turn on Video call layout to keep the corners clear of video thumbnails. Prefer to call numbers yourself? Leave read-aloud off and use your microphone. Players can type "Bingo, card 37" in the chat, and you check the card on screen.

90-ball bingo caller (1–90)

For the UK, Irish, and Australian game, choose Numbers only and then 1–90. Calls are numbers only, with no letters, and the called board shows all 90 numbers.

Need tickets? Our 90-ball ticket generator prints UK-style tickets in strips of six. Choose Host this game there and this caller opens ready for those tickets: it plays one line, then two lines, then a full house on the same calls, and checks any winning ticket by its number.

Printable caller sheet and call slips

Want the calls on paper, as a backup or with no screen at all? When you make cards with our bingo card maker, choose Download caller sheet: it lists every call in your set to tick off as you go, with a QR code that reopens the set. Tick Call slips to cut out and draw from a hat and it adds pages of slips to cut apart, so you can draw calls from a hat or a bowl.

For 90-ball games, the ticket generator has its own Download caller sheet for the tickets you printed.

Frequently asked questions

Is the bingo number caller free?

Yes. The caller, read-aloud, auto-call, presentation screen, card checker, and winner certificates are all free, with no account or sign-up.

How do I make the bingo caller read numbers out loud?

Turn on Read calls aloud. The caller uses your browser's built-in voice, so it works without extra software in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. You can choose a voice and a slow, normal, or fast speed. Voices vary by device.

Is there a bingo caller app?

You don't need one. This bingo caller runs in the web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer, so there's nothing to download or install, and no account. If you'd like it on your home screen like an app, use your browser's Add to Home Screen or Install option.

Does it say the bingo nicknames?

No. It says the call itself: the letter and number in a 1–75 game, or just the number in a 1–90 or 1–100 game. It doesn't say traditional nicknames like "legs eleven" or "two little ducks". If you'd like to use them, our bingo lingo guide lists them, and you can call in your own voice with read-aloud off.

How do I check if a bingo card is a winner?

For cards made with Bingo Card Maker Free, open the caller from your cards with Host this game, then type the card number shown on the winning card. The checker rebuilds that card, highlights the called squares, and says whether it completes this round's pattern. You can check several card numbers at once.

Can I use the bingo caller on Zoom?

Yes. Open the presentation screen and share that window in Zoom, so players see the calls while your camera stays on. In a phone game, every player also sees each call on their own phone. We haven't measured whether read-aloud comes through in a Zoom call, so don't rely on it: for anyone playing on a paper card, read each call into your microphone.

What happens if I refresh the page?

Your game is saved on your device, including calls, rounds, and winners, so it continues after a refresh. To start over, end the game and choose Play again for the same cards, or New game for new ones.

Does the caller work for word bingo?

Yes. Make word bingo cards with the card maker, then choose Host this game. The caller draws your words at random. For classroom cards with clues, it shows the clue to read and the answer beside it.

How do players join a bingo game online?

Choose Phones (or Both) in setup, then confirm on Review: your join link and QR code are made. Share that one link with everyone in a group chat, text, or email, or show the QR code on a screen. Each person who opens it gets their own different card on their phone. Guests can also go to bingocardmakerfree.com/play and type the 6-character game code. No download, app, account, or email is needed.

Can I print the QR code for players to scan?

Yes. Choose Download QR code to save a ready-to-print sign with the QR code, the web address, and your game code. Put it on a table or show it on a TV so guests can scan it as they arrive.

Can some players use paper cards and others use phones?

Yes. Choose Both in setup, and on Review, under Join link settings, enter how many printed cards you handed out. Phone cards start after those numbers, so no two players share a card, and every card can be checked by its number.

How do I take a break during a bingo game?

While you play, choose a 2, 5, 10, or 15 minute break in Calling options and press Start break. Auto-call pauses, and the presentation screen shows a large countdown until the break ends. Pressing Call next ends the break early.

Can I come back to my game later or on another device?

Yes. Save your private host link from Review, or from Get back in while you play. Opening it reloads the same cards and reconnects your join link and players. Keep it private, because anyone with the host link can control the game.

Make a recap page

Anyone with the link can see it for 30 days. Search engines are told not to list it.

Change it if it names someone who wouldn't want it public.

Never on it: the game code, invite link, QR code, your host link, players' names (other than winners' first names, if you turn them on), or anything that lets someone join or run the game.
